A hand-crafted bone carved Heru, or comb, with a traditional paua inlay for the eye.
This piece has the manaia form representing guadianship. 

Size: 19cm (7.4" inches)

Heru (ornamental combs) were traditionally used by Māori men to fasten their long hair, which was oiled and sometimes braided, up into topknots.
More commonly worn by women today.

Carved from treated and polished domestic cow bone.
Species = Bovine
